Black Swan.

After seeing all of the fuss that was made over this film when it came out in the cinema, I thought that I should see whether it was deserving of that.
Now I’ll be honest with you here, I was rather reluctant to watch this at first, after all I’m a boy that loves cars and seeing things get blown up, what would I want to see a bunch of ballet dancers prancing around for? Even if they are pretty ones… The girls, that is. No offence guys, I just don’t swing that way. Get it? SWING? I’m a monkey, monkey’s swing… Ahh never mind!

So what’s it all about, huh?
The story focuses on Nina, played by Natalie Portman, a talented, yet unstable, ballerina. As she edges her way towards stardom, Nina also finds herself gradually getting closer to another edge, that of a nervous breakdown, caused by her declining grip on reality and helped along by a pervy artistic director, rival dancer Lily and a pushy mother who is trying to accomplish the things that she never managed to through her daughter.

Did I like it? Yes, I did. Some aspects more than other, like watching my human cringe when Nina ripped the cuticle off of her finger, which was funny because she’s not usually squeamish. Seriously, I’ve seen that woman eating while watching people get liposuction on tv.
Would I recommend it? Sure! Natalie Portman’s performance was wonderful, fully deserving of the Oscar that she won for the role. Mila Kunis was great in the role of Lily also, by that I mean she was HOT! Have you seen that video of her defending Justin Timberlake in Russian. Oh boy!

Now where was I? Ahh yes, Black Swan.
I’m not going to include any spoilers today, as this is more recent than the other films I have reviewed, I don’t want to ruin it for anyone that hasn’t had the opportunity to see it. I will say though that at first I didn’t like the way in which the film ended, but now after thinking it over, I couldn’t think of a better culmination than the bringing together of Nina’s lives on and off stage.

Wow, I was almost serious for the whole of that review! I must be ill.
